Family and Consumer Science

The Souderton Area High School Family and Consumer Science Department offers courses designed to help students meet the challenges of their daily lives with confidence. Students will learn basic information and practical skills related to such topics as:

interpersonal and family relationships
human development
parenting and child care
financial and resource management
healthy living
foods and nutrition
culture and food choices
clothing and textiles
housing and home furnishings
fashion retailing and design
career choices, preparation, and employability

The goal of this program is to provide the skills that will enable students to manage the challenges across the life span of living and working in a global society.

Academic performance standards in Financial and Resource Management, Balancing Family, Work and Community Responsibility, Food Science and Nutrition, and Child Development are incorporated into the various courses offered as electives.
