Description: This upper level course focuses on the connection between diet, exercise and optimum health. Specifically students will learn about Metabolic Syndrome and how to control risk factors to reduce the chance of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Ideally, students will leave the class with the ability to prepare simple meals that are nutritious and be able to evaluate their meals in terms of nutritional content. Students with severe food allergies should consider selecting another FCS class since these foods are an integral part of this course. |
