Description: This course is designed for the “entry-level” music theory student who has only minimal amounts of music theory background. In this class students will learn the basics of music theory and will apply these basics to elementary composition. In addition to learning the theories and the applications to organize sound, the students will also participate in activities that will train their listening abilities. This course is the prerequisite for course #852 (Music Theory II). Students interested in learning how sounds are arranged into recognizable song forms are encouraged to take this class. This course will also greatly benefit students from the beginner level to the student on track towards a career in music. In this course, students will further their musical training by ear-training, sight-singing, and instrumental performance. |
