Description: This quarter course, designed for level three and four art students, is an introduction to the methods of oil painting, acrylic, and watercolor. Students will learn through direct observation how to create convincing illusions of light, form, and space. Basic issues of drawing, composition, color, and paint application will be addressed while painting subjects such as still-lifes, live models, portraits, and landscapes. Different painting styles and techniques will be taught with a concentration on a particular artist or group of artists. Experimentation will be encouraged which will lead to the development of a personal style. Paintings from throughout history will be studied. |
