Special Consideration Students may self-select readings for use in course projects. Parents are encouraged to review student choices since contemporary, topically appropriate materials, which may be of high interest to students, may not meet family preferences. Instructors will allow a wide range of choices from classic to contemporary works. A required minimum average grade of "B" or higher in Creative Writing is essential. Additional course requirements for repeating students will generate an increase in responsibility for any student who wishes to take the creative writing course again.

Description:

Creative Writing II will be semester long, allowing students rich opportunity to create, revise and publish their written work. This course focuses on the expressive modes of writing including poetry, fiction, dramatic scenes, television scripts, true narratives, and essays. Students who are interested in developing writing as a creative outlet will practice descriptive and narrative techniques as well as conventions of a variety of genres. Students will further develop at least two works which will be sent out for publication over the course of the semester. Students are expected to be a leader in the creative writing discussion process and small group writing workshop, be prepared to spend time outside of class to complete the components required of Creative Writing II as defined by the course selection guide.
