Description:
This quarter-length course uses contemporary and classic non-fiction and fiction texts to explore how a character's and/or the individual's circumstances play a role in succeeding socially and psychologically. The course focuses on these questions: 1. Can individuals transcend social contexts and pressures to achieve self-actualization?2,. What is the essence of tragedy in fiction and to what degree is tragedy intensified by the character's resolution?
