Description:
Advanced Placement Language and Composition is for juniors and seniors who have previously demonstrated distinguished ability in reading, writing, and a command of Standard English grammar. This course is taught at a college level. Students will be required to write 20-30 major papers, some over 1000 words, in the informational, narrative, and persuasive modes; all will be typed and, in the case of research papers, MLA format will be required. The course will create in students an awareness of different stylistic effects created by choices in diction, syntax, and organization, as revealed through critical study of recognized literary works in prose.
