Description:
This course is designed to introduce students to the types and purposes of Communication Technology needed for the Printing and Publishing Industry. This course will deal with the history of Graphic Design and Style from Victorian to Digital. Students will learn how to operate peripherals (scanner, digital camera, printer, and projection equipment.), and complete assignments related to the printing and publishing industry. Students will explore areas of communications and advertising that require them to create, produce, and perform various presentations. Students will complete, in-groups and individual, activities in: communications systems, digital photography, and graphic design, principles of layout and design, and desktop publishing. In addition, students will be exposed to publishing software such as Adobe's Photoshop, & Illustrator. This class is designed to give every student an understanding of communications and the practical skills utilized in the workplace and in post secondary education. This course provides a great opportunity for students to fulfill the technology component of the graduation project.
