Description:

This course is an extensive examination of both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Students will develop an awareness of how people and societies choose how to best utilize scarce productive resources. Students will be expected to master fundamental economic concepts, such as supply and demand; the function of markets; the role competition plays in product pricing; the role government plays in our economic system; measuring economic performance; and the importance of foreign trade. Students in this course will have the opportunity to take both the A.P. Microeconomics and A.P. Macroeconomics examinations. Students will also compete in the National Economics Challenge Competition held in the Spring. This course, like all A.P. courses, will require a deep commitment of time and effort from the student. There is a summer assignment for this course.
