Description: AP Biology is designed to be the equivalent of a college introductory biology course. Topics included in the course are biochemistry, cells and their processes, heredity, evolution, the structure and function of organisms, and ecology. Students will gain an appreciation of science as an ongoing process. They will work on understanding whole concepts, rather than memorizing only details. Laboratory work will be emphasized, with detailed write-ups included. Extra readings besides the text will be required with readings starting in August. This curriculum, developed by the AP Biology Committee, will prepare the student to perform at his or her best on the AP exam. |
